  • A one time flamenco bar, it’s quiet on the castanets these days but the passion lives on.
  • It’s warm, inviting, never less than a little busy and as loved by locals as diehard romantics.
  • The dress code’s come-as-you-like. The staff are charming and the food’s very, very good.

  • the menu del dia is a great price and worth the value for a starter, main and dessert and everything is very fresh
  • caramel cake is a must try

  • to psaraki serves dinner with a sunset on the side
  • book. the fresh fish and seafood is even more of a draw than the sinking sun
  • menu is as local as a local thing, even the dolmades vine leaves are hand picked
  • a little less known than some prime sunset spots, but a lot more endearing than most
  • impressive on wines and we highly recommend the kaitafi

  • staff are table weaving plate balancing masters of efficiency
  • try for a table outside and miss the moussaka at your peril, it is close to perfect

  • this is how santorini does street food and we’re sold
  • some locals eat here every day, order chicken gyros and you know why
  • prepare to fall for the fluffy, fresh baked pita alone
  • and a gyros isnt a gyros unless its loaded, take every extra offered
  • luckys is well loved and ridiculously cheap so you might have to queue
  • maybe not go as often as locals, but go at least once

  • practically dipped in the ocean, of course armenis big on fresh fish and seafood
  • snag a lounger for a post lunch snooze
  • low key, barefoot, a little bit beachy and charming on the service front
  • not up for boats? the walk to armeni is almost as pretty as the sail (but only almost)

  • Dinky little Roka wins hearts with a sweet vibe, soul- food and a cosy stove in winter.
  • Locals shower Roka with kind words too. They eat here a lot, so best to book.
  • Originally a sea captain’s house, Roka’s big on views.
  • Seek it our for melty lamb shank and coffee-crème-brûlée.

  • Covet tables with your toes in the water. Wet feet are worth it for the views.
  • Pricey maybe, but we love the barefoot vibe and sweet staff. Never too busy, so linger over lunch.
  • Get staff to call for a taxi to save you a climb up to Oia. Just ask.

  • Low on caldera views so low on tourists too, all the better to woo locals, and it does.
  • Go for traditional Greek food, it’s as good as the lovely owners claim.
  • Pitch up on spec, you’ll have a wait, but wine and comfy seats ease the pain.

  • it is still best loved, always jumping and pulls queues of devotees on the daily
  • it does seafood all ways, serves oysters always and mixes a mean cocktail any time
  • we are partial to a cucumber collins with chargrilled oysters on the side
